Lakmahal Community Library

Located in an old family home, Lakmahal, whose inhabitants shared a love of literature, the Lakmahal Community Library (LCL) is a space intended to encourage interest in the literary arts and encourage people to enjoy reading. With a small collection of 3,000 English language books spanning several genres, LCL aims to expand reading horizons and to create a community around literature by providing a space to meet, discuss and inspire creativity through community interaction and practice.

LCL will also offer a range of activities such as writing workshops taught by well-known Sri Lankan writers, language programs, book clubs, panel discussions and open mic sessions. It will also provide a space to sit and work and enjoy a drink or snack.
